MR. ODEIN AJUMOGOBIA

H. Odein Ajumogobia is a senior partner in the leading corporate/commercial law firm of Ajumogobia & Okeke that he co-founded in January 1984.

A fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) London, Mr. Ajumogobia a Senior Advocate of Nigeria with law degrees from the University of Lagos (LLB hons) and Harvard Law School (LLM), was for six years between 2001 and 2006 a member of the Paris based ICC International Court of Arbitration and ICC Commission on Arbitration.

After 23 years in full time private legal practice between 1980 and 2003 during which Mr. Ajumogobia argued several landmark appeals before the Supreme Court of Nigeria and acted as counsel or Arbitrator in major arbitration proceedings in Europe and in the United States , Odein Ajumogobia served in the Rivers State Executive Council as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

Mr. Odein Ajumogobia was appointed Minister of State for Energy (Petroleum) and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources between 2007 and 2010 by the late President Umaru Musa Yar Adua GCFR.

He was appointed Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR on April 6, 2010and served in that position until the dissolution of the Federal cabinet upon the election of President Jonathan for a fresh four year term as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 29, 2011.

Mr. Ajumogobia has since returned to his Lagos based law firm that has branch offices in Abuja and Port Harcourt.
