Nigerian-American Multicultural Council (NAMC) Gala and Award Night.

The Nigerian-American Multicultural Council (NAMC) held her 6th Gala and Award night in Houston on Saturday, April 29th, 2017, themed, “Building Unity”. It was a night of fun, comedy, awards and lots of catching moments. The President of NAMC, Mrs. Yemi Koyejo while welcoming guests and Houston Council representatives, thanked everyone for attending. She was full on optimism that the vision of the organization is gradually becoming a reality. She showcased the NAMC Facility to be built which would be a symbol of unity for all Nigerians in Houston and by extension, America. She charged everyone to be part of this dream, taking a cue from the Chinese and Indian community here who already have their country’s cultural centers built for the benefit of their citizens.

 

The President of IYW, Engr. Akin Odumakinde was honored as the Chair for the gala event and gave a speech on how Nigerians need to synergize and craft solutions for rebuilding Nigeria. He also talked about how Nigerians can command attention here in Houston by achieving outstanding feats worthy of mention. One of the Awardees at the event was Dr. Olayinka Olutoye who successfully carried out an operation on a pregnant woman and returned the baby to the womb. Present at the event where Executives of ILC in Houston who were greatly inspired by the numerous success stories of Nigerians at the event. The night was spiced with comedy from our very own award winning, Yvonne Orji, Nigerian foods and music, and give away prizes. It was a well attended event with over 300 persons present.
